Posterous, I'm outta here! Switching to Tumblr.
I have been using Posterous for inspirationcuration.com for quite some time now. They brought together a lot of good technology from around the web into one decent service. But that's not enough for me. Posterous certainly didn't invent most of the features they implemented, so I think they are obliged to be at least a thankful citizen of the social web. And here's where they most recently have fallen off the bandwagon with their switch-campaign. It's one thing to make it easy for users to switch from one platform to the next. It's a completely different thing to call the others “dying platforms”. That doesn't go over so well with the net community. The web is build on mutual respect and collaboration. If you misbehave, we're moving on.
And that's what I'm doing. I'm switching to Tumblr. Actually, I've been “autoposting” my Posterous-posts to Tumblr, ever since I started using Posterous, so switching was super-easy. Now, Tumblr is far from perfect. But at least, they are cool ;-)
